Below are the instructions on how to access your Office 365 email.

To access Office 365, students will sign in at https://portal.office.com. Your login for the Office 365 Portal will be [email protected] and Office 365 password.

Click here for step by step instructions to access your Office 365 email account.

There are two distinct ways to log into applications at Columbia College Chicago.

1. [email protected] and Office 365 password – Microsoft Office 365 (Email, Word, Excel, etc.), Adobe, Wi-Fi and lab/library computers

2. MyColumbiaID and Student Portal password – Student Portal and Canvas

Even though you log into email using your [email protected] this is not your email address. Your email address uses the following format: [email protected] If you have a preferred first name, then your email will begin with that first initial of that name. To locate your email address, log in to Office 365 and open the Outlook application, go to My Account and select Personal Info; your email address will be displayed under Contact Details.

You can access all the Office applications within a web browser from here as well. (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Creative Cloud, &, etc.) You can also store, share, and collaborate on documents with fellow students and instructors with OneDrive.

DATA STORAGE and BACKUP
Cumc

Point person Felix Torres
There are two ways that storage can be provided for Department of Medicine faculty.

Columbia outlook email
1. DOM storage
a. Benefits
  • The annual cost will be cheaper than CUMC-IT
  • The data will be backed up regularly and a copy of the data will be kept off-site for safety and redundancy
  • The data will be centralized within the department of Medicine.
  • Members of the Medicine Certified IT group will manage the storage.
  • The data will sit on a certified system so no CUMC-IT charges will apply
b. Limitations
  • Since the storage device is going to be joined to the Cardiology domain, CardioMed, whoever requests storage space will have to use a logon password different from their MC password to gain access to their data.
  • The drive will be mapped manually and the user will need to enter their password to gain access to the shared/drive whenever the computer is restarted or logged off due to security reasons.
2. CUMC-IT storage
a. Benefits
  • Same logon and password as other functions
  • The data will be backed up regularly and a copy of the data will be kept off-site for safety and redundancy
  • The data will sit on a certified system so no CUMC-IT charges will apply
b. Limitations
  • More expensive
  • May require longer lead time for changes
  • Data will be secured by CUMC-IT rather than in the Department
3. Self-storage (the server under the desk) – According to current CUMC IT policy this option is NOT AVAILABLE anymore
